In a big cabinet decision, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh announced that Lucknow will be divided into two zones - Lucknow City and Lucknow Rural for better policing. The number of women officers will also be increased in Noida, Greater Noida and capital city Lucknow.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday reviewed preparations for the 'Ganga Yatra', which will begin on January 27 and conclude on January 31.

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is setting up two makeshift schools at the Magh Mela campus here for children of daily wage labourers who work at the fair. 

All stations will be elevated and the project is estimated to cost around Rs 4,589 crore, they said. The first corridor will be 15.14-km long from Shyam Nagar to MMM Engineering College.

“In Lucknow, around 150 notices were issued. The accused will be given a week to present their side, but if the committee is not satisfied, proceedings will begin to extract compensation. If they are not in a position to pay, their properties will be attached and auctioned,” said a senior official in the government.

In a big reshuffle, the Yogi government has transferred several IAS officers on the first day of the new year 2020. A total of 22 IAS officers and 28 Senior PCS have been transferred and some of them have been given new responsibilities.

Lucknow University will soon establish a centre of excellence to study crime against women in order to curb such incidents. Meanwhile, at the same time, a women helpline service has been started by UP roadways to assist them in hours of distress.

In a Hindi tweet, hours after the statement made by Priyanka Gandhi, the CM's Office' through its Twitter handle @myogioffice said, "Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has worn saffron for public service."

The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure medical facility for the homeless in the shelter homes and also to provide hot water to them. He also asked officials to ensure that the homeless were given food.

The DGP said that the SIT, in each district, will be headed by an officer of an Additional SP rank. The SIT will be headed by Additional SP (Crime) or Additional SP (City) of the district. More than 1,100 people have been arrested and 5,558 kept in preventive detention following violence related to anti-CAA protests in the past one week.

Uttar Pradesh suffered the maximum loss of government property in the violent anti-CAA protests and several people lost their lives. In Meerut, the police have arrested two miscreants in connection with the violence. During investigation, it was revealed that both the accused were active members of the PFI.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Thursday his government will take "revenge" on those involved in the violence over the amended Citizenship Act by auctioning their property to compensate for the losses.

Social activist Annu Dubey was detained here after she reached Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence to seek justice for rape victims.​ Dubey reached Adityanath's residence on Thursday and sat on a dharna with a placard that read: "Why am I not safe in my own country?"

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval appreciated the pivotal role played by UP CM Yogi Adityanath in maintaining synergy with all organs of the state. Doval's sent a letter lauding the "commendable efforts".

The Uttar Pradesh government has fixed the sugarcane prices at Rs 315 per quintal and it has remained unchanged from the last year.

 The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) suffered another major jolt when Tribhuvan Ram, a close aide of BSP chief Mayawati, and former Minister Vinod Singh have joined the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.  

The orders were passed on Sunday night. Ajay Kumar, who was posted as the superintendent of police (SP) in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, has been made the new SP of Mainpuri.

In view of the chief minister's directives, the government has given its approval for setting up one tourist police station each in Gorakhpur and Varanasi. 

According to a health department spokesperson, "A showcause notice has been issued to the Hyderabad-based supplier firm. Arrangements are being made to provide additional stock to meet the high demand of the medicine."  

The Uttar Pradesh State Law Commission on Thursday submitted a report to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, suggesting a new law to check forcible religious conversions.
